SUMMARY:Deadline: Law School Mentorship Grant Applications
DESCRIPTION:Mentorship provides law students with a multifaceted support system\, aiding them in their academic journey\, career development\, and personal growth. Having a mentor ensures that students receive the guidance\, wisdom\, and resources necessary to thrive in the competitive and often challenging legal field. For the Mentorship Grant\, the YLD encourages Law School Affiliates to put on an event that focuses on connecting law students with practicing attorneys to forge mentoring relationships\, including but not limited to events like speed mentoring. . To gather inspiration from past events\, please consult the Affiliate Program Idea Bank located at: /affiliates/law-school-grants/\, but note that grant application requirements have changed over time. Each Law School Affiliate may submit one grant application requesting an award of up to $500.00. \nEvents and programs submitted for these grants must relate to the practice of law\, e.g.\, how the event or program improves the practice of law in Florida. The Young Lawyers Division does not fund projects that\, in the sole discretion of the YLD\, do not relate to the profession and the practice of law. Failure to follow the requirements may result in rescission of the grants and may affect consideration of any future applications for grants. Applicants are encouraged to reach out to the Law School Affiliates Committee Chairs throughout the application process to ensure their programs satisfy all requirements. \n+ Learn More

SUMMARY:Deadline: 2024-25 Law School Networking Grant
DESCRIPTION:2024-25 Law School Networking Grant\nAs a law student with future plans of moving into the legal profession\, it is beneficial to begin growing your professional network as soon as possible. Establishing a support system of other attorneys is beneficial no matter what area of the law you end up working in. With this in mind\, the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division has established the Law School Networking Grant to assist with funding an event focused on networking. \nThe event can take many forms\, but past events have included: \n\nA Micro-Mentoring Event\, where individuals set aside an hour and are paired throughout that hour with 2-3 different individuals with predesigned questions to get to know each other;\nMentor Speed Dating\, where individuals are given 2-3 minutes to meet each other (much like a speed dating context) to decide if their interests click and whether they would like to start a Mentor/Mentee relationship outside of the event; and\n“Table of 8\,” where you take attendees with varying levels of professional experience (like an Inn of Court) and have them meet or attend a dinner/lunch together\, typically several tables will be formed but the goal is to keep it to approximately 5-8 people to facilitate a mix of experience levels while maintaining a more personal group atmosphere (one example of a group pairing would be 1 senior attorney\, 1 young attorney\, a 3L\, a 2L\, and a 1L); or\,\n\nYou can also create your own event or opt for a traditional mixer with law students and lawyers. The options for your event are endless and we encourage you to reach out to your Alumni Associations and Voluntary Bars to make the very most of your event. If you are looking for more inspiration on how to put together the perfect networking event\, please consult the Affiliate Program Idea Bank located at: /affiliates/law-school-grants/. \nEvents and programs submitted for these grants must relate to the practice of law\, e.g.\, how the event or program improves the practice of law in Florida. \nThe Young Lawyers Division does not fund projects that\, in the sole discretion of the YLD\, do not relate to the profession and the practice of law. Help us showcase your efforts for the betterment of your organization\, The Florida Bar\, and our profession. Failure to follow the requirements may result in rescission of the grants and may affect consideration of any future applications for grants. Applicants are encouraged to reach out to the Grants Committee throughout the application process to ensure their programs satisfy all requirements. \n+ APPLY ONLINE

SUMMARY:Deadline: #YourYLD (Spring) Grant Application
DESCRIPTION:Previously\, the second fall grant offered by the YLD was titled Afternoon at the Courthouse/Professionalism\, however we are broadening the scope of this grant: it could include a second community service event\, a professionalism event\, or any other type of event you can imagine.  The one thing we ask is that your event include a component with the judiciary as both Afternoon at the Courthouse and Professionalism often bridge the gap between the legal community and our judiciary.\nEach Local Bar Affiliate may submit one application for a grant award up to $500.00 towards an event meeting the above parameters. Grants will be announced within 4 weeks after the submission deadline\, with checks hopefully disbursed within 4-6 weeks after that. Affiliates must use the hashtags #flayld and #YourYLD in all social media posts related to the event.\n\n+ Apply & Learn More
