DESCRIPTION:Mentorship Grant Application\nMentorship provides young lawyers with a multifaceted support system\, aiding them in their career development\, substantive knowledge\, and personal growth. Having a mentor ensures that young lawyers receive the guidance\, wisdom\, and resources necessary to thrive in the competitive and often challenging legal field. For the Mentorship Grant\, the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) encourages Affiliates to put on an event that focuses on connecting young lawyers with more experienced attorneys to forge mentoring relationships\, including but not limited to events like speed mentoring. Each Affiliate may submit one grant application requesting an award of up to $500.00. \n+ NOMINATE \nJoint Event Grant Application\nThe purpose of the Joint Event Grant is to encourage Affiliates to partner with each other or other organizations to collaborate in the planning and execution of events that improve the quality of legal services\, encourage professionalism in the legal profession\, and/or provide networking opportunities for young lawyers with others in the legal community.  Each Affiliate may submit one grant application requesting an award of up to $500.00. DESCRIPTION:As with many other grant opportunities this year\, The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division is offering new Affiliate Outreach Conference grants.  Affiliates are eligible to submit and present at AOC (in person) one out of the three grant opportunities described below.  Affiliates are not eligible to receive grant funds for more than one of the three grant opportunities identified below. As such\, please select and apply for only one grant opportunity by or before 5 pm on Friday\, January 31\, 2025. \nEvents and programs submitted for these grants must relate to the practice of law\, e.g.\, how the event or program improves the practice of law in Florida.  The Young Lawyers Division does not fund projects that\, in the sole discretion of the YLD\, do not relate to the profession and the practice of law. DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the Health and Wellness Grant is to promote mental and physical health in the legal community.\nEach Local Bar Affiliate may submit one application for a grant award up to $500 towards an event that promotes health and wellness in the legal community and corresponds with your participation in the 2020 Health and Wellness Month in May. \nGrants will be announced in April and awarded on or around May 1\, 2020.  Affiliates must use the hashtags #stigmafreeyld\, #flayld\, #KindlyYLD\, and #WellLawyer on all communications sent via social media regarding the event. DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this grant is to allow young lawyers to engage in community service by hosting a hands-on\, community or pro bono service event. Affiliates can apply for a “Holidays All Year Long” grant (a holiday-themed party for at-risk children)\, or can apply for funding for another type of service event\, as long as the event provides a service opportunity and includes interaction between the affiliate and the local community. The sole purpose of the event cannot be a fundraiser for a charitable cause.
