DESCRIPTION:Please provide a narrative summary of your project\, divided into sections using the section headings listed below. In the past\, the Florida Bar YLD has awarded affiliates as much as $5\,000.00\, although typical awards range from $500.00 to $1\,500.00. The submission of a grant application does not guarantee the receipt of award money. Award decisions are at the sole discretion of the YLD Board of Governors. \nIn order to be eligible for an award\, an Affiliate must present its grant at the 2023 Affiliate Outreach Conference. Additionally\, each Affiliate seeking grant funds must designate at least one (1) Affiliate Representatives\, who is required to register for and attend the morning programming session and the lunch roundtable discussion at AOC.  An Affiliate that applies for an AOC Grant but does not have at least one Affiliate Representative register and attend the required AOC events will be deemed ineligible to receive grant funds. (**AOC Grants are not available for law school affiliates) \nThe Florida Bar YLD will notify applicants of the outcome of their AOC grant application. Affiliate grants must be completed within one (1) calendar year of the date funds are received. A nominee must be admitted to practice in Florida. \nThe term Pro Bono is derived from the phrase pro bono publico meaning “for the good of the public.” The purpose of this award is to encourage more Florida young lawyers to freely contribute their time and expertise in providing legal services to people in their community who cannot otherwise afford those services. In some instances\, this will include legal services to charitable organizations that serve the poor. The emphasis of this award is on legal service to the poor. \nAttachments: It is mandatory to attach a letter or statement from the nominator explaining why the nominee deserves this award. It is optional to attach materials from third parties\, such as photographs\, articles\, or additional letters in support; however\, all submissions shall be limited to five (5) attachments accompanying the nomination\, and all nominations shall not exceed a total of ten (10) pages. \nThe completed online application is due by September 9\, 2022 at 5 p.m. Submission of the application will go to Awards Co-Chairs Celia Dorn (chthacker@gmail.com) and Lolia Fernandez (loliayf@gmail.com) with a copy to Section Administrator Tom Miler tmiller@floridabar.org. \n+ Online Application
