PROFILE: Allison Stocker & Katie Fackler

Katie and Allison, both associates in Akerman LLP’s Jacksonville office, met barely a year ago, but already know everything about each other thanks to hours spent pounding the pavement before dawn (and no thanks to days of practicing law two small offices apart). Allison is a lifelong runner, having been a track star at the University of Miami and veteran of five marathons. She most recently ran the 2015 Boston Marathon in a speedy 3:17 and the 2013 Chicago Marathon in 3:15.

Profile- Katie and Allison

Katie, a collegiate swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania, began running a few years ago. In between working in the Bankruptcy and Reorganization group at Akerman LLP and caring for her two boys, Will (3) and Teddy (1), she ran her first marathon this February in an incredible time of 3:08. Katie’s time was so fast, she beat Joan Benoit Samuelson, the American marathon runner who won the gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Allison and Katie are now training for the Chicago marathon this October and have big plans for running new personal records.

“The time I spend running is just for me. I can let my mind wander, think about what is keeping me up at night, or think of nothing at all. It is a great escape and helps me come back to the office refreshed and rejuvenated.”
– Allison Stocker

“I run for sanity- no one is asking me about a case or a hearing, or to make a grilled cheese or tie his shoe. I decompress, and then enjoy a guilt-free glass of wine.”
– Katie Fackler
