Raising the Bar is Florida’s Legal Community Service Day which unites Florida’s legal community to participate in community service projects across Florida on the same day. Every year, the Division hosts its annual, state-wide “Raising the Bar” Community Service Day where attorneys, judges, and law students from across the state work together to better their communities through service projects.
The next Raising the Bar will be held on February 25, 2017. Each Law Student Division school has selected an organization to volunteer with for Raising the Bar 2017. The Stetson YLD LSD and attorneys collected supplies and made care packages for the American Red Cross for their 2014 Raising the Bar event.
The Nova YLD LSD and attorneys volunteered at The LifeNet4Families Cooperative Feeding Program for their 2014 Raising the Bar event. They worked in the soup kitchen, sorted donated food in the pantry and made hygiene packages for the homeless.
The Thomas Cooley YLD LSD and attorneys, including The Florida Bar YLD President Melanie Griffin, made hot meals for the homeless at Metropolitan Ministries for their Raising the Bar 2014 Community Service event.
The Florida State University YLD LSD and attorneys hosted a Celebration Brunch & Home Goods Drive benefitting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee, Inc. for their Raising the Bar 2014 Community Service event.
The University of Florida YLD LSD and attorneys hosted the 3rd annual Youth Law and Justice Conference for their Raising the Bar 2014 event. The Youth Law and Justice Conference is a daylong event which brings about 120 local middle and high school students to the UF Law campus for discussions raising awareness of legal issues affecting today's youth.
