“Attack every opportunity with energy and optimism.” This is one of the secrets to success of the Florida Bar YLD Board of Governors 2015 recipient of the Lynn Futch Most Productive Young Lawyer Award; Jane Muir. As a child, Jane envisioned herself as fighter pilot or a Broadway actress, but after she tried her first mock trial in seventh grade civics class she knew she wanted to be an attorney because she loved being an advocate. This spirit has propelled Jane into the outstanding young lawyer she is today. Jane is a true people person, a known and respected face in the legal community, and a go-getter who I have had the pleasure of observing in her various leadership roles in the South Florida Legal Community. She has been able to strike the balance most young lawyers aspire towards in seamlessly managing the practice of her own law firm, community and bar service, and personal joys.
Jane has served as president of the Coral Gables Bar Association, on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the Dade County Bar Association, and as editor of the Dade County Bar Association Bulletin. She has also consistently given back to her alma mater and young lawyers by serving on the University of Miami Law Alumni Association Executive Committee as Vice President for Student Affairs and Communications, as well as, Chair of the University of Miami School of Law Young Alumni Committee. Jane also served on the crime watch committee for All Grove Crime Watch where she volunteered to advocate for residents and victims of crime in Coconut Grove.
As expected, Jane has received numerous awards and accolades to memorialize her professional and community achievements including being named one of 20 Under 40 Emerging Leaders for South Florida by the Miami Herald, being named “AV Preeminent” by her peers through Martindale-Hubbell, and being recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine.
For many years, Jane’s peers, especially those in South Florida, have deemed her deserving of this most prestigious award. Your efforts and participation in legal and community organizations have not gone unnoticed by the Board of Governors of the Florida Bar YLD. Congrats and keep shinning!
