The chairs of the Pro Bono Committee, Stephanie Myron and Eric Elms, are making an effort to have a positive impact in the local community during our YLD board meetings throughout Florida this year. During the YLD board meeting in Miami on July 21, 2017, we organized a supply drive where the YLD donated over $300.00 and various supplies to the Lotus House Women’s Shelter, in Miami-Dade County. Lotus House is a non-denominational, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of poor, disadvantaged and homeless women, youth and children by ensuring that they have the sanctuary, support, education and resources in Miami. Today, they house over 250 women and children on a daily basis and 680 annually. The women and children are permitted to live free up to a year to give these fragile families the time and tools needed to heal, improve the quality of their lives on every level, achieve greater self sufficiency, and transition to their new homes.
