Meeting Report
President-Elect Designate: The Young Lawyers Division elected Governor Adam White First Judicial Circuit Representative as the next President-Elect Designate.
Local Bar Affiliates: The Young Lawyers Division is launching a new portal for all Local Bar Affiliates. This will help aggregate information and enable young lawyers to have a one stop shop for all events in their Circuit and throughout the State. This will be rolled out in February.
Awards: The Young Lawyers Division selected the following award recipients: Member Service Award: Manatee County, Public Service Award: Dade County, Small Affiliate of the Year: Miami-Dade FAWL, Large Affiliate of the Year: Orange County. All of these Affiliates were recognized at the Affiliate Outreach Conference on January 12, 2019.
Health and Wellness Challenge: The Health and Wellness Committee announced the upcoming Health and Wellness Challenge in which all Local Bar Affiliates will be encouraged to participate in the month of May.
The Good Stuff: Governor Ethan Wall highlighted the upcoming changes to The Florida Bar Application in reference to mental health questions and recognized our members that were recently elected or appointed to positions throughout the State of Florida: Governor Nikki Fried: Florida Commissioner of Agriculture, Governor Paige Gillman: Palm Beach County Judge, and Governor Denise Beamer: Circuit Judge, Ninth Judicial Circuit.
#Stigmafreeyld: The Health and Wellness Committee will be rolling out the social media campaign over the next few months, featuring a video of a different attorney every month that will discuss their struggles and triumphs with mental health issues. The first video was debuted at the Board Meeting and then shown at the Affiliate Outreach Conference.
Special Guests: President Michelle Suskauer, President-Elect John Stewart, and The Florida Bar Executive Director Josh Doyle all attended the Meeting and addressed the Young Lawyers Division, thanking the Board members for all of their hard work over the last year.
