If you practice in any area of family law, the Family Law Section’s soon-to-be-released “Bounds of Advocacy Goals for Family Lawyers in Florida” is the publication for you. This guide leads Florida lawyers through the quagmire of professional and ethical dilemmas that are unique to the practice of family law. Bounds of Advocacy offers goals for professional cooperation, competence and advice, conflict of interest, fees and children. It suggests a higher level of practice than the minimum baseline of conduct required by The Florida Bar rules and spells out guidelines for situations where the rules don’t provide sufficient guidance.

This version of the Bounds of Advocacy is an update from the original 2004 Florida publication. The Family Law Section Ad Hoc Bounds of Advocacy Committee—a group of Florida’s most experienced family lawyers—has updated the guide to capture not only changes in marital and family law, but in ethics, professionalism, social media and technology. This is a must-have addition to your family law practice. The 54-page guide is scheduled for release in May and will be available online at no charge. Family Law Section members will receive printed copies. The YLD is partnering with the Family Law Section to spread the word about this excellent family law resource, so stay tuned for more details about its much-anticipated release.
