The Basic Trial CLE

The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Basic Trial Practice CLE Chairs Sue-Ann Robinson and Andrew Pickett are excited to moderate this upcoming CLE.  The Basic Trial CLE will take place on December 2, 2016 at the Sheraton Suites Tampa Airport. The LIVE program will begin at 8:15 a.m. and run until 4:00 P.M. This CLE covers topics relevant to young trial lawyers brought to you by powerhouse trial attorneys, appellate attorneys, and judges from all over the State of Florida, covering both criminal and civil law.  The program will begin with a litigation overview, including a discussion on “litigator life” work life balance as a litigator which will be presented by Dale Swope, who specializes in plaintiff’s personal injury and insurance bad faith.  The judicial panel will feature Second DCA Judge Nelly Khouzam, 13th Circuit Judge Samantha Ward, and 10th Circuit Judge Catherine Combee.  Clancey Bounds, who specializes in the area of medical malpractice, will share the major keys to successful jury selection. Former Assistant Federal Defender and FAMU Law professor James Smith, will break down how to prepare and deliver an Opening Statement that makes your case.  Former prosecutor and UF Law professor Bob Dekle, who prosecuted Ted Bundy, will present on the topic of cross examination.  The famous trial attorney, philanthropist, and motivational speaker Willie “The Giant Killer” Gary is presenting the anatomy of a winning Closing Argument.  Rounding out the speakers will be Celene Humphries, who will discuss how to preserve your record for appeal with an appellate perspective to the trial practice.
