Do you think having “it all” is realistic or overrated? Why?
Yes. What counts is having what is important. And doing that well.

What does having “it all” mean to you?
For me, it means having work, family and friends in balance.

What is the best advice you have ever received on balancing your personal and professional lives?
That file will always be there the next day.

If you had an extra hour in your day, how would you spend it?
At yoga.

Looking back at when you started in the profession, and knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your younger self?
Take a deep breath. It’ll all work out the way it’s supposed to.

Do you deal with guilt in trying to balance your personal and professional lives? No. Guilt is extraordinarily toxic.

What single change do you believe would have the biggest impact on work life balance or quality of life?
Make choices carefully and then own them.

What part of “balance” do you struggle with?
I don’t.

What part of “balance” are you improving at?

Accepting what will be.

As a working parent, how do you balance your career and your role as a parent? Badly.

How important is civic and/or professional involvement to you and why?
It makes it all fun/ok/helpful.

What’s the advice you would give a young lawyer seeking to strike a “balance” between family, self, and the practice of law or achieve better quality of life?
Get therapy. It makes a world of difference.

Any other parting words of advice? Breathe. Pray. Take yoga.
