Matletha N. Bennette is a Legislative Analyst/Attorney at The Florida Senate Minority Office.  As a product of South Bay, Florida, a small, agricultural, migrant community in the Glades area of Palm Beach County, Matletha Bennette lives her life dedicated to systemic reform in various areas. Her active life as a wife and mother of two active boys doesn’t slow her down or inhibit her commitment to robust advocacy and social justice. Matletha has worked and served in a variety of public interest positions, including advocating on behalf of children within Florida’s foster care system; serving as Social Justice Chair for the Black Law Students Association; and examining voter discrimination and felon disenfranchisement as a research assistant. She currently serves on the Executive Boards of Street Beat, Inc. Performing Arts Center and the Florida Community Law Center, and is active within the Innovative Community Engagement (ICE) Foundation, all non-profit organizations dedicated to uplifting, educating and empowering the communities in which they sit. She spent her first years out of law school diving into post-conviction relief for capital defendants, and currently serves as a legal and legislative analyst on criminal and civil justice issues, as well as infrastructure and security reforms, in the Florida Senate Minority Office.
