Description
This seminar will provide attorneys with information about stress, mental health, substance abuse in their lives and in the profession as a whole. Particular attention will be given to issues related to compassion fatigue. Compassion fatigue is also known as vicarious trauma or secondary traumatic stress. Compassion fatigue is the effect of exposure to traumatic stories or events when working in some type of service or helping capacity, including the legal and judicial profession. This, combined with the stresses of everyday life, can have serious negative effects on our physical and emotional health. Many attorneys suffer from compassion fatigue yet may not know that is what is happening. Compassion fatigue is treatable.
