Michelle Karinne Suarez, Esq | Business Attorney at Kelley Kronenberg, P.A.
The first thing I do when I wake up is…take my pre-workout amino acids, get dressed, and head to the gym.
I am most productive during the day when I…start my day at 4:45am.
The best advice I’ve received about balancing work and life is…knowing when to say no and making sure you leave at least one weekend a month free with absolutely no commitments.
The one thing I would tell a stressed out and overwhelmed young lawyer is…get on the healthy lifestyle train and make sure you are eating right, drinking enough water, exercising in some form or fashion at least 5x a week, and getting at least 6-7 hours of sleep a night. Your whole perspective will change and you will feel like a brand new person.
Every day I make sure to…make time for prayer, reflect, be present, and do some form of physically engaging activity, even if it’s just doing 20 pushups in my office.
The quickest way to ruin your career is…to be unreliable. Your word is the most important asset you have. If you say you’re going to do something- do it. Otherwise you will be known as all talk and no action, and no one will trust you.
The worst piece of advice I ever received was…what other people think is none of your business.
I keep my priorities straight by…making sure my relationship with my partner, God, and myself always come first. If I’m not making time for my physical and spiritual health, everything else will suffer anyway.
The best life lesson I ever learned was…to be authentic. By shamelessly being who you are, without concern or fear of judgment, people will always get to meet the real you, which results in being surrounded by other authentic people because like attracts like. By being authentic you tend to align yourself with individuals with your same values or goals. What you’ll find is that through authenticity you’ll create a circle of people who lift you up and power you forward, and that is the best propulsion you can have to help you achieve your dreams.
The best way to promote health & wellness among lawyers is…to be the living example. By embodying a healthy lifestyle daily, you will help those around you reconsider the way they treat their bodies. I don’t have to say anything. I just do. Before I know it, other people want to know how they can become healthier too. You have to practice what you preach, so I try to do that every day.
