When I’m feeling stressed I…clean everything off my desk, touch every file and make a To Do list.
When I can’t fall asleep I…go to another room so I don’t bother my wife and pray the Rosary (I’m not Catholic, but it helps).
My preferred method of exercise is…paddleboarding!
I am most productive during the day when I…get in the office early before the phone starts ringing.
The best advice I’ve received about balancing work and life is…evaluate work/life balance on a monthly basis. Don’t worry about daily and weekly swings. But if you don’t look at it monthly, life can get out of equilibrium.
The one thing I would tell a stressed out and overwhelmed young lawyer is…take on a pro bono case. I know it is counterintuitive, but it works. Trust me.
My guilty pleasure is…taking pictures of people who are dressed inappropriately at the courthouse. #whatnottoweartocourt
If I could go back to when I was a young lawyer and give myself advice, I would say…call a few lawyers you respect and have a cup of coffee or lunch. They are much more open to it than you expect.
I wish more lawyers…billed on a flat fee basis rather than hourly.
The best way to promote health & wellness among lawyers is…encourage outings and events that incorporate exercise, the outdoors and camaraderie.
